The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) lends its full support to the “Master Plan for Marine Plastic Waste Management in Bataan” project. A joint undertaking between the Provincial Government of Bataan and Korean Environmental Industry and Technical Institute (KEITI), the project aims to create a master plan to manage marine plastic wastes in the province.
DENR Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Service Director Al O. Orolfo and Bataan Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Raul Mamac recently attended the formal signing of agreement for the implementation of the project led by Gov.Joet Garcia representing Bataan Provincial Government and Division of Environmental Industry Director General Ju Hyun Cho of KEITI. “This is a very good initiative towards environmental management in the province of Bataan. DENR fully supports the project”, said Orolfo. For his part Mamac said, “The project has positive environmental impact and we commend the commitment of our leaders in the province led by Gov. Joet Garcia”.
The project aims to formulate a comprehensive master plan to enhance environmental stewardship and address the issue of plastic pollution in the seas and rivers of the province. Republic of Korea through KEITI under its Green Official Development Assistance (Green ODA) provided support on marine pollution and plastic waste management in Bataan.
